Lessons From a Top Creator on LinkedIn

Austin Belcak's success on LinkedIn is detailed in a podcast episode by Jay Clouse.

Here are his tips for LinkedIn creators:

  1. Post Regularly: Aim to post at least three times a week, with five linkedibeing ideal to gain traction. Consistency is key.

  2. Focus on Short-Form Content: Short text posts tend to generate the most visibility on LinkedIn.

  3. Be Data-Driven: Analyze your post performance to understand what works and adjust your strategy accordingly.

  4. Adapt to Algorithms: Keep up with changes in LinkedIn's algorithm and modify your content style based on data analysis.

  5. Build Relationships: Networking is crucial. Engage with others authentically and add value to their experiences.

  6. Create a Content Backlog: Start by writing posts without publishing them to build a backlog, which helps maintain consistency.

  7. Experiment with Content Types: Use different styles and formats, such as carousels, to see what resonates best with your audience.

  8. Leverage LinkedIn's Longevity: Posts on LinkedIn have a longer lifespan compared to other platforms, offering more opportunity for engagement.

  10. Engage Authentically: Make others feel seen and heard, which helps build strong connections.

Tool of The Week: Creator Spotlight

This isn’t exactly a tool, but it’s awesome, and I had to share it with you.

Creator Spotlight is a weekly newsletter that serves as your guide to building an audience through world-class social media and newsletter content. Creator deep-dives are featured every Friday.

I always knew it - LinkedIn pages rock!

I recently shared a LinkedIn post that unexpectedly took off, racking up 29,000 impressions in just 24 hours. With a page of less than 700 followers! The post resonated with a lot of people, thanks to its humor and relatability.

Here are the key points and why it worked:

Engagement Stats: The post had 288 reactions, 21 comments, and 5 reposts. It focused on the relatable topic of dressing for remote meetings.

Page Growth: Started with 163 followers and now has 689. Memes are posted almost daily, resonating well with salespeople.

Key to Success: A strong click-through rate (CTR) of 4.32% was crucial. The humor and relatability of the content drew people in.

Organic Reach: The success was purely from the content itself, without extra networking or engagement tactics.

Importance of a Hook: A compelling opening line is essential to grab attention and encourage interaction.

7 LinkedIn Hacks from Lara

I watched Lara Acosta’s video, ā€œ7 LinkedIn Hacks That Are SO Good They Feel Illegal,ā€ and summarized it for you.

Here’s what I learned:

  1. Time zone hacking
Post at different times based on time zones to maximize engagement. Reposting a post after 6 hours can increase engagement by up to 20%.

  2. Reposting content
Repost your content after a few hours to reach a different audience. This helps grow engagement and followers. Adding personal insights to reposts can even help make them go viral.

  3. Repetition builds authority
The more you post about a specific topic, the more people will associate you with it. Consistent posting about your niche makes you an expert in that area.

  4. Use live streams
Going live helps create stronger human connections. It builds trust, gives real value to your audience, and helps you establish authority in your field.

  5. Collaborative articles for growth
Contributing to LinkedIn’s collaborative articles adds credibility to your profile. By adding a touch of humor or entertainment to your answers, you can stand out and engage your audience better.

  6. Engage with your audience
Interact with your followers to increase visibility. Light-hearted, engaging content works well. Message and comment on posts to strengthen connections and build trust.

  7. Targeted engagement
Focus on interacting with the right people—your ideal clients or key influencers. Regularly engaging with them boosts your visibility and helps you connect with the right audience.

How I Fixed My LinkedIn Strategy

Morgan J. Ingram explains how he revamped his approach to LinkedIn after feeling burned out from talking about sales.

Early in 2023, he shifted his focus to new topics like content creation, employee advocacy, and his journey as a founder. However, his engagement dropped by 55%, and he realized he needed to adjust his strategy.

After studying posts from LinkedIn expert Lara and getting coached by her, he learned several key lessons:

  • His hooks weren’t strong enough.

  • He had moved away from his core audience.

  • His writing tone was too negative.

  • His writing style was too complicated (should be simpler).

  • He wasn’t engaging with the LinkedIn community like before.

To turn things around, he followed a daily routine that involved:

  • Sending 30 direct messages (DMs) daily.

  • Writing 20 high-value comments.

  • Engaging with everyone who viewed his profile.

  • Posting at least 5 times a day.
