How Nicolas Boucher Built 1 Million Followers by Finding His Audience

Two years ago, Nicolas Boucher had almost no audience. Today, he has over 1 million followers across LinkedIn, Twitter, and his newsletter. His secret? He found his target audience—finance professionals—and served them consistently with valuable, unique content.

Here are the key takeaways from Nicolas's journey to 1 million followers and how LinkedIn creators can apply his strategies:

Lessons From Nicolas’s Success

1. Provide unmatched value.
Nicolas focuses on creating content that’s 10x more valuable than the average. He deeply understands his audience—finance professionals—and addresses their specific challenges with insights they can act on immediately.

2. Use strong visuals to stop the scroll.
Eye-catching designs are a cornerstone of Nicolas’s strategy. His content is formatted to maximize engagement on LinkedIn (1350 x 1080 px for carousels) and uses consistent colors (blue and orange) to reinforce his brand.

3. Lean into what works—but keep experimenting.
He started with infographics, cheat sheets, and KPIs, which became his signature content. But he doesn’t stop innovating. Nicolas tries new ideas constantly, even if some fail, because experimentation drives long-term growth.

4. Post consistently but prioritize quality.
Nicolas believes in posting frequently but only when the content has a strong idea and a clear hook. He avoids generic or filler posts, ensuring every piece delivers value to his audience.

5. Don’t overthink hashtags and links.
Contrary to popular belief, Nicolas found hashtags made little difference to his performance, and links in posts didn’t hurt his reach. His focus is always on the strength of the content itself.

6. Build your brand intentionally.
Every element of his content, from visuals to tone, reinforces his expertise and authenticity. This consistency makes him instantly recognizable to his audience.

7. Create content you can reuse.
Nicolas has over 300 pieces of original content he repurposes across channels, making his work compound over time. He uses his library of posts to fuel newsletters, trainings, and other platforms.

Why Finding and Serving Your Audience Matters

Nicolas’s growth didn’t happen by accident. He identified his niche—finance professionals—and created content that solves their problems.

His focus on repetition and consistency shows that LinkedIn isn’t just about going viral—it’s about delivering consistent value to a specific group of people who need what you offer.

How To Built a 7-Figure Agency Through LinkedIn

Tommy Clark never planned to build a career around content. What started as a way to market his nutrition coaching in college turned into a 7-figure agency, Compound Content Studio.

By age 25, Tommy had grown his LinkedIn presence and used it to generate leads, hire a team, and build a sustainable business—all while keeping his content authentic and focused on real value.

Here’s how he did it and the lessons LinkedIn creators can take from his journey:

Key Lessons for LinkedIn Creators

1. Focus on consistency, not perfection.
Post regularly—ideally 5-7 times a week. Avoid generic fluff by sharing unique, personal stories only you can tell.

2. The hook is everything.
The first 1-3 lines of your post determine whether people click "see more." Think of it like a YouTube thumbnail: if the hook doesn’t work, the post won’t either.

3. Strong ideas > hacks.
A well-thought-out idea will always outperform clever formatting or tactics. Share ideas that resonate deeply with your audience.

4. Build a network intentionally.
Tommy’s first marketing job came from sending a thoughtful Twitter DM to a company CMO. Use content as a way to showcase your skills and connect with decision-makers.

5. Use content as proof of work.
Even before starting his agency, Tommy leveraged his personal posts to demonstrate his expertise. This approach led to high-paying freelance gigs and a growing client roster.

6. Invest in systems early.
When scaling his agency, Tommy realized the value of building systems and hiring early. Hesitating to delegate only led to burnout and slower growth.

7. Don’t chase virality.
For Tommy, content isn’t the product—it’s a tool to generate leads and build trust. Focus on sustainable growth, not viral hits.

Tommy’s Rules for Posting on LinkedIn

  1. Post consistently, but not too often. Aim for daily posts but avoid posting more than once per day to prevent algorithm penalties.

  2. Make your content unmistakably yours. A great post should feel like it could only come from you.

  3. Prioritize your audience. Every post should address their problems or goals, not yours.

  4. Engage directly. Respond to comments and build relationships to deepen trust with your audience.

3-Step LinkedIn Funnel

In this interview on YouTube Justin Welsh shares his LinkedIn Funnel Strategy. Very intersting.

Here's a breakdown:

Three-Step Funnel for LinkedIn Growth

  • The funnel consists of three main components: the compelling introduction (trailer), a clear call to action, and the detailed content (the meat) of the post.

  • The initial part of the post should grab attention within the first 300 characters to entice visitors to engage further.

  • The call to action should be specific and focused, guiding the audience on what to do next, such as commenting, sharing, or subscribing.

Optimizing Your LinkedIn Profile

  • Your LinkedIn profile should function like a landing page, featuring a professional headshot and a banner that communicates the value you offer.

  • The tagline should succinctly state your expertise and why others should engage with your content.

  • Effective use of the featured section allows you to direct visitors to your website, newsletter, or services, maximizing the profile's potential.

Importance of Unique Knowledge

  • Developing unique knowledge requires a deep obsession with a specific topic, which allows for innovative insights and value creation.

  • Using James Clear as an example, his obsession with habits led him to formulate unique concepts such as habit stacking, distinguishing him in a crowded field.

  • Your unique perspective on common strategies can create valuable content that stands out and builds authority in your niche.

Effective Content Creation Strategies

  • Simplification is key in content creation; complex ideas should be broken down for easier understanding, making them accessible to a broader audience.

  • Editing is crucial for clarity and effectiveness, ensuring that the content is concise and free of unnecessary fluff.

  • Creating and consistently sharing unique strategies, like the "Creator funnel," helps establish your brand as a valuable resource, encouraging audience engagement and potential monetization.
